Good Morning! Well, I've tried a couple of times, but I just haven't been able to hook up with your daughter yet. Since you asked me to witness to her, and I feel this testimony is powerful and very appropriate for her to hear right now, I thought I might just send this off, and you could give it to her to read at her leisure. Hi Jen! :) One day about 6 weeks ago, I was JUST about ready to turn around on stage, push the play button on my CD player, and begin my Jazzercise class - when someone called my name. I turned around and it was Sherry Kegel (Ken, you're working with her now). She had tears in her eyes and asked me to ask everyone to pray for her sister, Kelly Moran, as Kelly's 4 year old daughter (so it is Sherry's niece/God-daughter) had been admitted to the hospital a week earlier with complications from a terminal congenital disease (the 2-foot long diagnosis escapes me right now). Side note: Kelly is also a student of mine. She gave birth to twin girls who were both diagnosed with this rare disease that would not allow them to survive past the age of 6. They are the ONLY living twins in the world presently with this disease and 2 of only a dozen children world-wide). The girls are both 4 now. One is always on a ventilator and requires 24/7 nursing care, THIS particular little girl was the healthier of the two, and now she was battling for every breath and on death's door! Back to the story: They told Kelly that her daughter's lungs were solid scar tissue, as seen on plain chest films, CT scans, and bronchoscope. They had decided to extubate her, see if she would spontaneously breathe on her own, but had made the heart-wrenching decision to let the Lord take her, if that was to be. ALL of her doctors at Children's Memorial Hospital had advised them to prepare for the worst. Kelly had selected gravesites and made funeral arrangements. So, this particular morning at Jazzercise, Sherry was asking me to ask everyone in the room (about 50 people that day) to pray for all of them as the extubation was going to take place that day. Well, needless to say I was pretty choked up - but I still had a class to teach. So I decided to make it a great, fun class, and when I got to the end where we normally finish up with a stretch song/routine, I decided to share with the class what Sherry had asked me to. I had already had the song Peace, but Norah Jones, in my set - so I asked everyone to pray for the Moran's and that little girl while we listened to that beautiful music and stretched. So 50 women sat silent (no small feat there!:) and prayed for 4 minutes to the song Peace. When the song was over, you could have heard a pin drop in that room. Several were crying, others had tears quietly rolling down their faces, but everyone left silently. I asked Sherry to keep me posted throughout the day if "anything happened". I didn't hear anything, but I continued to pray throughout the day. The next morning when I went back to the Center to teach again - there was Sherry all smiles and happy! She told me how we had all prayed at 10:15 am (class ends) - and as it turned out, at approx 10:45, the doctors removed her breathing tube, she took a breath all on her own and amazed EVERYONE! They took Kaylie for repeat x-rays, scans, and re-scoped her - NO SCAR TISSUE - her lungs were CLEAR!!!!!!! The doctors all said that it HAD to be a miracle, as there was NO possible medical explanation for the sudden reversal, and she was in such good condition that she was released and back at home with her sister THE NEXT DAY!!!!!! The power of prayer went forth, and there is no other earthly explanation - God can and does do miraculous things every day!! God is good all the time, and all the time, God is GOOD! Many are praying for your husband and family now, too, Jen. So hang on to your faith will all your might and get down on your knees and pray for the healing power that only God can grant; pray for expert and knowledgeable physicians to set about a healing course of treatment for John; and we pray for strength for John, as he battles this horrendous disease each day now! In Jesus' precious name - Amen. In God's Peace, Cindy :) p.s. You can call me any time should you feel the need! :)
